is a Christian housing ministry financed through private donations and utilizing volunteer
labor. Families selected for the program also work to help build their future home. Our purpose
is to build homes with families and sell the houses at no profit and no interest to families
who could not otherwise afford a home.

Please read the following items to see if you have an interest
in our ministry AND to see if you meet our general guidelines:

1. To qualify you must have housing need (for example: overcrowding
(three to a bedroom), poor heating, leaks in the roof, no indoor
plumbing, unsafe or unsanitary conditions) or live in public housing.

2. You need to have lived or worked in our service area for a year.
Our service area includes Rockwall County, and the cities of Royse
City and Rowlett.

3. You need to have a minimum steady income per year that is not
less than 30% of the median income for our community:

4. Your total family income per year should not be much more than 50%
of the median income for our community:

5. With your permission, we will verify employment and other income,
verify checking and savings account balances, get a statement from your
current and previous landlords, have a credit check run, and ask you
for credit references.

6. If you are approved for a Habitat home, we ask that you be willing to
join in programs to learn and practice budgeting, home repair, and
maintenance.

7. If approved for a Habitat home, we require that members of your family
be willing to work a total of 300 hours of volunteer service, or “sweat
equity”, 200 of which must be accomplished in order to buy and move into
the home. The rest of the sweat equity must be accomplished within six (6)
months of the move-in date or within four (4) months after the next
Habitat house project is begun, whichever is later.

8. If approved for a Habitat home, about $1,000 will be needed for your
annual premium for homeowner’s insurance, plus your portion of the Title
Insurance and filing fees (roughly 2 percent of the anticipated sales
price of the home). You will have some time to save this money before
closing if your family is selected.

9. If you are approved for a home and if you meet the sweat-equity and
down payment requirements, then we will sell you a home at cost. The
mortgage is paid over 20 to 30 years, depending on the family situation.
Habitat house payments include taxes and insurance and will cost approximately
$400 a month*. The house payments will be used by Habitat to build more
houses with other families. This requires that you make these payments
on time.

If you are interested in Habitat and if you believe you qualify for a home
according to the above guidelines, we encourage you to call the Habitat
office and request an application, Sweat Equity Agreement and the Authorization
forms. Fill them out completely and return them to the Habitat office.

All information is considered confidential and is to be used only for
family selection. The application process takes between two and three months.

We are very willing to help you fill out this application. If you have any

through Fridays. You may leave a message, and someone will get back to you
in two to three days.

Families not initially accepted may reapply at a later date.
