Next Home Close To Starting Construction!

We have selected our next homeowner, a very deserving family who will reside in our next home at 904 Davey Crockett St. in Rockwall.  The lot is currently being prepared to have the slab poured and we hope to start framing at the end of March/Early April.  Please check back for more information as we get more details.

302 Ross St. is Dedicated with an Unprecedented Event!

We are so excited to have finished our latest home for the Villalobos family, now happily residing at 302 Ross St.  Before this already deserving family closed on their new home a donor stepped forward and paid off their entire mortage.  We’ve had very generous donations in the lifetime of the Rockwall Habitat chapter, but this sets a new record.

On Saturday, October 12th we officially dedicated this house and it was an amazing event with a wonderful turnout.  In-N-Out Burger brought their food truck out and served up burgers for all and there was a bounce house for all the kids to play in.  The Villalobos family already has their house beautifully decorated to be a very warm and inviting home for all.   It was a great day to officially make this house their home!

We’d Like to Thank Everyone for All the Help on Our Latest Home!

We recently finished our latest Habitat house in Rockwall for the Villalobos family and would like to thank the many people that helped us complete this home for such a deserving family!   First and foremost thank you to each of our volunteers for all their dedication, especially through the heat of the summer!  The Rockwall Fire Department, (Chief Mark Poindexter) and Station #1 on Boydstun Ave were our heroes for providing us with ice each Saturday at the worksite. So many businesses, individuals and organizations helped make this build a success! We are so thankful for your continued success!!

2×4 Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Rockwall was a Success!

On Sunday, September 29th the First United Methodist Church of Rockwall held their 17th annual 2×4 Sunday fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity.   It was a huge success raising over $2,400 in donations from church goers.  Sponsored by the Seekers Sunday School class at the church there were 2x4s for people to sign and give prayers on to be put in the next Habitat house and baked goods available for donation.  The fundraiser was a huge success as the latest house was just completed and the next home will start in a few short months.

Volunteer Coordinator Help Needed

We are moving right along with our latest house, but we need your help! We have an amazing volunteer coordinator, but the job is bigger than just one person.  If you are interested in getting involved with Habitat, this would be a great way to get started with our great group of volunteers.  You wouldn’t be alone as a coordinator, but work together to make sure our volunteers get what they need.  If you are interested, please contact us via e-mail at rockwallhabitat@yahoo.com.

Newest House for Rockwall Habitat is Dedicated!

The Rockwall Chapter of Habitat for Humanity dedicated their latest house at 304 Ross St. on Saturday, October 27, 2012.  Saturday afternoon a large group of volunteers, board members and family members gathered as the president of Habitat, John Cote, led the dedication for the newest family, Jeffery & Meliza Davidson.  The Davidsons moved in this month with their children, including a new baby boy born in August.

During the dedication, Mary McClure, a former board member expressed sincere thanks to an anonymous donor that has donated significantly in the past as well as $25,000 specifically for this house.  Mayor, David Sweet, presented to the family a flag flown over the capital on behalf of Congressman Ralph Hall.
Habitat will begin their next house on the lot next door in the coming weeks.  Volunteers to aid in construction, provide breakfast, lunch or water are always needed.
