Next Build Started … 302 Ross St. Rockwall

Saturday, February 9th, We started our newest house at 302 Ross St. in Rockwall. Even with the cold and rain we had over a dozen volunteers come out and were able to raise 2 1/2 sides of framing on the house.  It was a very exciting day as this new home was started for a very deserving family.  Angel Lopez from Sonic was gracious enough to donate lunch for our volunteers and the Rockwall Fire Station on Rockwall Parkway was kind enough to bring by some ice.  It was a great day and we are excited about continuing with the framing this Saturday!

Spirit Night at Chick-Fil-A – Thursday, September 27!

2×4 Sunday First United Methodist Church, Rockwall

This Sunday, September 9, from 8am – 12pm, First United Methodist Church of Rockwall will host its annual 2 x 4 Habitat fundraiser. Members and guests are invited to ‘buy’ a 2 x 4 plank of wood which they can then sign or they can simply contribute to Habitat as they come and go from church. Over the last 15 years, FUMC has raised over $52,000 for Habitat. We welcome you to stop by to buy your own 2 x 4! The boards are then used in the building of the next house. It’s a great experience to see all these boards with well wishes on them being nailed up to support and shelter another family.

New Board Changes

Rockwall Habitat Announces Board Changes

Rockwall Area Habitat for Humanity has announced changes in its all-volunteer board. President Wendy Buford reported that while we will be sorry to lose Construction Director, Greg Caffarel, Family Selection Director Jim Burzynski, Treasurer Scott Christensen, Architectural Director Bob Shaw, and Secretary Mary Alice Caffarel, we are grateful for their years of service without which we would not have been able to achieve what we have achieved. Please join us in expressing many thanks to them.

We are pleased that the following volunteers have agreed to join the board of Directors:

Construction Director  –  John Cote

Family Selection Director  –  Connie Jackson

Secretary  –  Janice Revels

Treasurer  –  Rhonda Smith and Nancy Barnett

Also recently added to the board were Dan Demeyer – Architectural, Calleigh Mentzer-Tootle  –  Designer, Jeremy Webb and Eric Burress – Fund Raising Co-Directors, Terry Campbell – Family Nurturer.

Rockwall Area Habitat for Humanity will be starting a new house in early January. We can always use volunteers for the construction process on Saturdays and for the Board. Contact us for more information.
